Today, Dressage is used as the foundation training for both horse and rider for most equine sports. Once the horse has been backed under saddle with a good foundation of Dressage fundamentals they mentally and physically can go in almost any direction of training with confidence and willingness.
When training the horse our goal is to develop a horse that is happy, balanced and free-moving in his work. We feel it is very important to treat each horse as an individual and to vary the training to the horse’s needs. Our goal is to create healthy, willing athletes that can perform to their greatest potential in classical dressage or desired discipline.
In addition to riding, we work horses in-hand, on the lunge line, long-lines, and over cavelletti. The horse should always leave the arena with more answers than questions.

Another important member to the BPF team is Ry Mosser. Ry has invaluable experience working and training young horses with both kindness, soft hands, and patience in a variety of disciplines. Ry has worked on and competed in ranch horse classes, reining, dressage, endurance races as well as cutting in his career. After high school he started his young career off working at a large church camp. He assisted in running and maintaining the riding program including the development of new and young horses for safe trail rides for everyone from kids to adults. While working for the camp and attending college he had an opportunity to take lessons from the head trainer at Sugar Grove Farm, there he was given the opportunity to be the assistant at his first training/boarding facility. Ry was able to continue developing his skills by riding in multiple equine disciplines and starting a wide variety of horses. While at Sugar Grove he continued to further his horsemanship skills and was introduced to the art of Dressage. Ry was able to attend many riding clinics including several opportunities to ride with Eddo Hoekstra. Eddo has trained with renowned coaches such as Robert Dover (USA) and Walter Zettle (also one of Mary Claey's coaches in her earlier years). During his time at Sugar Grove Ry met and worked for James Prater who introduced him to the sport of cutting. Now he is working and training for Bridled Passion Farm doing what he loves, starting young horses off with great foundations to their riding careers. Ry continues to enjoy the western disciplines while maintaining classical dressage principles of the horse. It’s no wonder Ry and Mary have such a great training program. They both have similar foundation backgrounds and beliefs in working with the development of the horse. We look forward to the opportunity to share our passion for the young horse with our clients.
Frequently asked question is when is a good age to start our youngster under saddle and I like to start them around age 3 when their knee growth plates close all the way to avoid any potential damage to our growing students!
